NSW Holiday – Part 1

On the 12th of December 2010, my lovely partner and I drove down to Hastings Point in NSW to camp with my extended family. This particular holiday was full of fun and a huge surprise, which will all come later…

We left Brisbane at 10am and it was pouring! We were a bit worried our beach holiday would be ruined! We decided to stop at Palm Beach just past the QLD/NSW border and it was beautiful! I couldn’t help but laugh at the ‘hidden camera’ sign hehe. I’m not a huge fan of sand so we just walked along the beach (probably 20m) then gave up and walked back to the car.

Now this next part I don’t have any photographs of so I’ll explain it here…

We decided to stop in at Kingscliffe on the way to our camping grounds for lunch. A few months back we stayed at an amazing hotel there so we were pretty excited to stop back in there. We were going to have a stroll on the beach but it was closed due to erosion =( So we ordered our fish and chips and found a bench to eat them on.

Next minute, Kurtis pulls out a ring and proposes to me! We’ve been talking about getting married for quite sometime now but it still surprised me! I couldn’t stop smiling and hugging him and then he asked, “so is that a no?” which is when I finally said yes! I managed to stay tear free until he told me that he had rung my dad and asked for his permission and that my mum and sisters both knew of his sneaky plan!It turns out he wanted to propose at Palm beach but we left the beach so fast that he couldn’t and then the beach at Kingscliffe was closed so he had to ask over fish and chips (which by the way is my favourite food ever!).

I then rang my Dad and one of my best friends and cried some more. I still can’t stop looking at my pretty ring (photos down further).

So after all of that, mum met us in the car park so I tried to hide the ring so I could tell everyone when they were out of the car – but I knew they had figured it out because they all kept smiling at me from the back of the car. When we arrived at the camping ground, I showed mum and my sisters and the rest of the family and cried some more!

So after ALL of that, we finally had the tent set up and decided to go for a walk at Hastings Point which is where the rest of our beautiful photographs were taken. I can’t wait to go back to this beach, it was amazing!
